Immigration for parents

A U.S. citizen has the right to file a petition for their parents to obtain U.S. permanent resident status. However, there are several conditions that need to be met in order for the petition to be successful:

- The U.S. citizen must be at least 21 years old.

- The U.S. citizen must reside in the United States.

- The U.S. citizen must have sufficient financial means to support their parents at a level no less than 125% of the federal poverty line.

- The U.S. citizen must provide proof of their U.S. citizenship.

- The U.S. citizen must prove their family relationship with the parents.

 - Establishing family ties in cases of adoption.

- Financial issues or problems with the U.S. citizen’s tax records.

- Legality of U.S. citizenship and the process of acquiring it.

- Legality of divorce (if one parent is divorced). Visa restrictions for parents.

- Providing false or misleading information in the past.
